There are so many wonderful destinations couples are choosing to go to. Packing is such a chore. When you get engaged look at what you're buying. Don’t be tempted to buy $20 tops, because that’s all they are worth. Practice to buy good quality items you can wear for more than a week. My best friend’s father used to say when we came home with “good buy bargains” …yes its more like “good bye money”.  Take the opportunity to choose your style and see value in what you buy. Its good practice for when you won't have as much time on your hands.

This week’s gown of the week is “Natasha”. Flowing and feminine. One of my favourites especially for a destinational wedding...

Here I am with my sketch pad, drawing out my idea's for my next Fiorenza bridal gown designs. I'm torn between the 2 designs below. They are similar but which do you like best? I'd love to have your comments on these designs and what elements you like or don't like about them. Your feedback is very important to me, so I'd love it if we can start a discussion here on Facebook about the designs...

Year after year when wedding gown designers are creating their next collection it inspires them to look back into the pages of tradition. The likes of Oscar De La Renta bases his approach and supports tradition by creating fabrics that speak a Language of eras before us.

I have always encouraged a connection with tradition but incorporated a modern edge or twist. My creations are founded on the giving and loving experience of family being together and the desire for a bride to celebrate her life with her partner.

An 80 year old lady dear to my heart once told me “there is every reason to celebrate young love, couples could have chosen anyone, but have chosen each other - thats what makes it so magical”. A wedding is a milestone that shouldn’t be ignored. Whether you are choosing a glamour soiree’ or a small  restaurant gathering you are creating your own personal tradition. Buying a wedding gown is meant to evoke and uplift the spirit – but is “tradition” holding up?

Here I am sitting in front of my sketch pad creating my next collection. Is tradition what you are looking for? What is inspiring you when you are planning your wedding? Maybe your passion and style can be added to my inspiration. Would love to hear your thoughts...

Attached are two of my latest design sketches, send me your thoughts on Facebook. Would love to hear which one you like best and why...

Designing a wedding dress is all about delivering a dream. When a bride puts on a gown…her dream gown, it becomes hers and she puts her own signature on it.

I truly believe Fashion is about re-invention and exploration. Taking whatever your style is and pushing the boundaries a little further.

As a guest invited to a wedding we all wait with baited breath for the bride to make her grand entrance. I love “Harper” because of its brazen but feminine presence.

Lose yourself in this dramatic accumulation of textures found in the depths of the skirt.

There is a presence of things changing in bridal...

Over the years the bride has become sophisticated and self-assured. You often hear that they are marrying their best friend. For me this tells a story of how the bride & groom feel about each other. Romance in the place of tradition is my main inspiration. Fabrics that move and structure fabulously enough to flatter the figure. Of course, style and comfort is my key element. In the words of my idol Chanel, “If it is not comfortable its not luxury”.

In my opinion the venue also has an element of responsibility. If you are standing for most of the evening as you would at a cocktail wedding, then the gown should reflect that feeling.

As a stylist and a designer my suggestion would be to never forget to be yourself!
